The Mobile Police Department has named Anita Otis the Civilian Employee of the Month for November 2019. Otis is a records specialist for the Second Precinct. She has been an employee with the department since September 1996. Otis is commended for the excellent performance of her administrative duties and dedication to ensure the precinct functions efficiently and effectively.
In addition to her day-to-day duties, Otis is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) grant overtime. She also prepares documents that allow the captain to analyze and combat crime.
During the month of November, Otis coordinated a Thanksgiving luncheon for members of the Second Precinct. After serving the officers, she made time to personally serve her community.
Otis volunteered with the SouthWest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce to help feed many needy families in the precinct. The areas included the Section Eight housing off Azalea Road and the impoverished trailer parks in the Theodore area. She and several precinct officers distributed a total of 30 Thanksgiving dinners.
