Burgary suspect dies as result of cardiac event

A suspect arrested on burglary charges has died after suffering from a cardiac event.

On Monday, October, 21, 2019 at approximately 12:17 p.m., police responded to the area of Old Pascagoula Road and Roundtree Court in reference to a report of several burglaries in the area and the suspect impeding the flow of traffic. Upon the officers’ arrival, they attempted to take the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Christopher McCorvey, into custody but he resisted. The officers then attempted to take him into custody by deploying Taser but had no success. 

McCorvey fled on foot and jumped a fence. He was apprehended within a short distance. Officers attempted to arrest him a second time with the assistance of two Mobile County deputies as he continued to resist arrest. To bring McCorvey into compliance, an officer touch tased him.

McCorvey was finally taken into custody. But, he had to be transported to the hospital for a possible cardiac event. He later died on October 22, 2019 as a result of the cardiac event.
