Business Caught Selling Alcohol to a Minor, Third Violation

The Mobile Police Department, alongside the ABC Board Inspectors, conducted an underage drinking operation at five businesses. The operation took place on December 14. One of the businesses, Central Stop located at 7081 Howells Ferry Road, was caught selling an alcohol beverage to a minor operative, making it the third violation in one calendar year.

Because the business recently changed ownership, it will only be fined at this time. Additionally, a warrant will be signed on the store clerk at a later date for a furnishing alcohol to a minor charge.

Other locations included in the underage drinking operation are listed below. They were all found in compliance with ABC guidelines.

• BP located at 2160 Old Shell Road
• Shell located at 3000 Dauphin St.
• Sideways Sports Bar and Grill located at 3211 Springhill Ave.
• West Mobile Liquor located at 2502 Schillinger Road South

The MPD Office of Strategic Initiatives Underage Drinking Detail is responsible for performing compliance checks throughout the year. For each underage drinking operation, the businesses are randomly selected and includes those where complaints have been received.
