The Mobile Police Department has named Cecelia Workman as the Civilian Employee of the Month for November 2022. Workman serves as a radio communications officer in the Communications Unit. She is recognized for her role in responding to critical incidents.
During the month of November, there was an officer-involved shooting. When the call was received, Workman immediately started downloading and listening to the voluminous amount of radio traffic to help units such as Internal Affairs and Homicide with their investigations.
Workman has also been assisting with the rollout of a new OnCall records system that is expected to go live October 2023. Her daily duties include maintaining payroll, mobile data terminals (MDTs), automatic vehicle location (AVL) files, and lineups in CAD as well as coordinating wrecker rotation. Possessing subpoenaed audio files from the radio and the telephones that are vital to cases presented in court is another one of Workman’s duties.
According to her supervisor, Workman has a wealth of knowledge that she is always willing to share to help her co-workers. She also helps with interviewing new candidates.
