David Potts receives Civilian Employee of the Month Award

The Mobile Police Department honors David Potts as the Civilian Employee of the Month for September 2024. With 25 years of service, Potts' current position is GIS Analyst III in the Planning and Research Unit. He gathers and maps data for important decision-making regarding safety improvements. 

Potts regularly receives requests for statistical information from both law enforcement personnel and civilians. During the month of September, Potts received 15 requests for neighborhood crime reports from civilians. After determining the location, he gathers the crime data and generates a detailed report. He also coordinates delivery of the report. As far as assisting law enforcement personnel, there were a total of 14 requests that Potts completed. Primarily, it was providing them with Uniformed Crime Reporting (UCR) infomation.

Additionally, Potts creates beat maps and posters for various departments, crime prevention programs, and public events such as National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. 

Another one of his responsibilities is completing Clery Act requests from colleges and universities. Providing crime data helps satisfy their Clery Act requirements. He completed 19 of these requests.

According to his supervisor, Potts is truly an asset to the Planning and Research Unit and to the Mobile Police Department. He always has a welcoming and friendly demeanor and gets his work done in an efficient manner.
