On Monday, January 1, 2024, at approximately 12:16 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Dauphin Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim’s name will be released pending notification of next of kin. This is an active homicide investigation, and no further details will be disclosed at this time to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

On Thursday, January 4, 2024, the Mobile Police Department made an arrest related to the New Year's Day Homicide that occurred on the 300 block of Dauphin Street. During the course of the investigative process, detectives identified a 16-year-old male juvenile as the subject involved in the homicide incident. The juvenile will be transported to Metro Jail and charged with Murder.
