MAN STEALS JUNK CARS FOR PROFIT

Oct 29th, 2008

File Number: 08-10-Alert

Mobile Police are currently in search of a subject identified as Kendall Justin Stone (19). Stone currently has three active warrants for Theft of Property First Degree and one active warrant for Attempted Theft of Property First Degree out of our jurisdiction.

Over the past several months of investigation, police have discovered that Stone has been involved in a number of vehicle thefts involving calling "junk wrecker" drivers to the location of a vehicle that appears to be broken down. Stone then assumes ownership of the vehicle and sells the vehicle to the driver for profit.

Stone searches for vehicles that appear to be disabled and notifies a "junk wrecker" company that he will sell the vehicle at a negotiated price upon their arrival. Stone notifies the wrecker company that he is the actual owner of the vehicle, signs an affidavit provided by the company, and shows his identification. Stone is known to target residences that appear to be vacant and has disabled vehicles located on the premises.

Mobile Police are sending this alert out to notify citizens to be aware that Stone has not been captured and that he may be looking for new targets for this type of criminal activity. Stone also has several active warrants for his arrest out of other police jurisdictions involving this same type of activity.

Any one that has information regarding the location of Kendall Justin Stone is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 208-7000.
