MAN TASERED AND PEPPER SPRAYED AT DOLLAR GENERAL

On July 24, 2009 at approximately 12:00 PM Mobile police officers responded to the Dollar General Store on Azalea Road in reference to an adult male who had been in the store bathroom for over an hour. Responding officers used pepper spray and a taser to remove the man from the bathroom, after repeated attempts to have the man open the door. Officers then discovered the man, Antonio Love, age thirty-seven, were hearing impaired and was unable to communicate with officers while in the bathroom.

The family of Antonio Love has filed a formal complaint with the Mobile Police Department. The Internal Affairs Unit is continuing the investigation and gathering evidence related to this incident and the complaint. One officer involved in this incident has been placed on administrative duty pending the results of the investigation. His identity is not being released at this time.

Additional information will be provided pending the final results of the investigation.
