Mardi Gras Safety Plan for Lost Children

Feb 15th, 2019

In an effort to help parents find lost kids at Mardi Gras, the Mobile Police Department is providing “myMPD Carnival Badges”.  This is part of MPD’s Mardi Gras safety plan and makes parents partners in keeping their kids safe.

The identity card is attached to a lanyard that can be placed around the child’s neck. On the back of the card, parents should write the name of the child, address, and at least two relatives and their telephone numbers.

If kids get separated from parents, they should be instructed to go to the nearest police officer. Police will attempt to contact the parents. Until children are reunited with parents, they will be taken to the Central Events Mini-Precinct located at 320 Dauphin Street.

The badges are free of charge and can be picked up at police headquarters and at any precinct.
