MPD provides timely dissemination of information to the public. Additionally, our team works with media, community and business leaders, elected officials and other members of the public to promote excellence in police services; mobilize public involvement, and increase awareness of public safety initiatives that build upon the department's crime reduction strategies.
The Communications Office is staffed Monday - Friday 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. CST. We will respond to media requests after hours during large incidents that require immediate information to the public.
Blake Brown is the Mobile Police Department's civilian Public Information Officer (PIO). He joined the department in February 2024 after working as a television news reporter for 9 years, covering everything from crime to hurricanes. His background also includes marketing and communications roles along the Gulf Coast. Blake handles media requests, social media engagement and other public relations duties for the department.

Matt Carlson is the Mobile Police Department's Media Production Specialist. He joined the department in 2024 and handles all video production. Not only does Matt capture the department's promotions and graduations on video, he also works across multiple departments highlighting our officers and staff through video projects.
