Mobile Police Arrest a Robbery and Assault Suspect

On January 18, 2013 at 9:40 a.m. Mobile Police responded to the 1500 block of Springhill Avenue for a report of a robbery and shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a 52 year old male that had been shot during a robbery. Mobile Fire Rescue responded and transported the victim to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

While on the scene, officers received a call at an apartment complex in the area about a suspicious male running from the area of the robbery and assault. Officers located 17 year old Romello Funches in an apartment and were able to make the arrest.

On January 10, 2013 at 6:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of Dauphin Street, an adult male victim was in a parking lot when he was approached by a male subject armed with a handgun. The subject demanded money from the victim, the victim complied and the subject told the victim to leave. As the victim was driving away in his vehicle, the subject fired a shot at the victim. No injuries were reported. Detectives have determined that Funches is responsible for the reported robbery.

Romello Funches has been arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery First Degree and Assault Second Degree.
