Mobile Police Arrest Business Owner for Sale of Narcotics

May 6th, 2014

On May 6, 2014, Mobile Police arrested 24 year-old William Walker, Jr. and charged him with Trafficking Marijuana Analog, Possession of Marijuana First Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Walker was arrested at his business, One Stop Convenience Store on Holcombe Avenue, where he sold marijuana and marijuana analog, also known as Spice, from his store.

The Department also sought and obtained a court order to close the business. Along with selling illegal drugs from the store, Walker does not have a current business license. "I am optimistic that our department can work with the city's legal department to create a more precise system that would shut down businesses immediately," said Barber. "These businesses operate with zero concern to the health and safety of the surrounding community."

Spice is believed to cause cardiac-related issues as well as hallucinations to those who use it. In the past weeks, local hospitals have seen patients from a wide variety of demographics with these severe symptoms.

Anyone with information about the use or sale of Spice is asked to call Mobile Police Intel at (251) 208-7000 or text to CRIMES (274637) and include the keyword CRIME 411.
