Mobile Police have arrested an 18 year old and 17 year old for stealing packages off front porches. Around 11:30 this morning, less than 48 hours from the time the thefts occurred, police located the suspects using surveillance footage for leads.
The suspects were spotted getting into a vehicle parked off school campus near Murphy High School. During the apprehension, officers also found marijuana and a pistol in one suspect’s possession.
Lavante Tarlton, 18, is charged with two counts of theft of property third degree, possession of marijuana second degree, and no pistol permit. The juvenile was transported to Strickland Youth Center. He is also charged with two counts of theft of property third degree.
The thefts occurred in the Silverwood subdivision. Tarlton and the juvenile took packages off porches from two houses on Tuesday, Dec. 4 between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. One of the packages contained the victim’s Christmas ornaments.
