Mobile Police Capture Robbery Suspects

On Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at approximately 10:45 P.M., Mobile Police responded to a report of a commercial robbery at the Domino's Pizza located at 5369 Highway 90 West. During the incident, five unknown subjects entered the location armed with handguns; with their faces covered and demanded money from the employees. The suspects retrieved an undisclosed amount of US currency from the business and fled the scene on foot across the parking lot. One of the suspects struck an employee in the head with a gun causing a minor laceration. The employee was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at approximately 10:50 P.M., an off duty officer was stopped at the traffic light located at Government Street and Satchel Paige Drive when he observed three black male subjects conceal their identity and enter the Steak and Shake located at 3125 Government Blvd. while armed with handguns. The off duty officer observed the subjects pointing their pistols at the employees and obtaining cash. The officer then took position outside of the restaurant and notified dispatch for assistance. One of the subjects fled the business through the front door and the remaining two fled through the rear door. The off duty officer gave chase of the suspects until two of the three suspects were apprehended. Responding officers set up a perimeter in the area of Satchel Paige Drive and Halls Mill Road and observed a vehicle traveling towards Government Blvd. occupied by two more male suspects. These two suspects were taken into custody by police without incident. The remaining suspect at large surrendered to police after hiding in the woods. A total of five subjects were captured in connection to these two robbery cases. These individuals were identified as Jarvis McClendon, DOB 5/2/1991, Silas Jackson, DOB 9/6/1992, David Glover, DOB 5/26/1992, Karl Martin, DOB 6/11/1993, and Daniel Norwood DOB 8/27/1990.

Robbery detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Investigation revealed that some of these suspects were connected to other commercial and individual robberies. These incidents are as follows…

On Saturday, October 3, 2009 at approximately 9:44 P.M., officers responded to a report of a commercial robbery at the Movie Gallery located at 7880 Moffett Road Suite A. During the incident, two male subjects entered the business armed with handguns. The subjects jumped the counter and demanded money. The subjects fled the scene after obtaining an undisclosed amount of US currency. Investigation revealed that the two suspects responsible for this incident were 16 year old Karl Martin, and 17 year old Silas Jackson.

On Saturday, October 3, 2009 at approximately 9:46 P.M., officers responded to a report of a commercial robbery at the Subway located at 7880 Moffett Road Suite C. During the incident, two male subjects entered the business armed with handguns. The suspects jumped the counter and demanded money. The subjects obtained an undisclosed amount of US currency and fled the scene. Investigation revealed that the two suspects responsible for this incident were 16 year old Karl Martin, and 17 year old Silas Jackson.

On Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at approximately 7:00 P.M., officers responded to a report of an individual robbery in the parking lot of the Hungry Howies located at 2206 Airport Blvd. During the incident, a pizza delivery driver pulled into the parking lot of the business and had exited the vehicle. The victim was then approached by three male subjects whom all were armed with handguns. The subjects demanded the victim's wallet and keys to his vehicle. The victim gave the suspects cash from his wallet but refused to give the subjects his keys. The subjects then fled the scene on foot behind the location. Investigation revealed that the suspects responsible for this incident were 16 year old Karl Martin, and 17 year old Silas Jackson.

On Sunday, October 11, 2009 at approximately 8:37 P.M., officers responded to a report of a commercial robbery at the PaPa Johns Pizza Restaurant located at 5212 Cottage Hill Road. During the incident, two male subjects armed with handguns; entered the location through the back door and demanded the manager to open the cash registers. The manager complied and the suspects removed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot. As the suspects were fleeing out of the back door, one of the suspects fired a shot into the business. Investigation revealed that the suspects responsible for this incident were 16 year old Karl Martin and 17 year old Silas Jackson.

On Monday, October 12, 2009 at approximately 7:24 P.M., officers responded to a report of a commercial robbery at the Bay Mont Inn Motel located at 5634 Tillman's Corner Parkway. During the incident, three male suspects entered the business armed with handguns and demanded the victim to give them money from the cash registers and safe. The victim complied and the suspects took an undisclosed amount of US currency and fled the scene. Investigation revealed that the suspects responsible for this incident were 16 year old Karl Martin and 17 year old Silas Jackson.

On Monday, October 12, 2009 at approximately 2:12 A.M., officers responded to a report of a commercial robbery at the Dairy Queen located at 7507 Moffett Road. During the incident, three unknown subjects entered the business armed with handguns and demanded money. The subjects obtained an undisclosed amount of US currency from the business. One subject fired a shot into the floor of the business after the employee stated that they were unable to open the safe. The subjects then fled the scene on foot. Investigation revealed that the suspects responsible for this incident were 16 year old Karl Martin and 17 year old Silas Jackson.

A total of eight robberies were cleared by the apprehension of these five suspects. Each suspect was charged respectively with appropriate counts of Robbery First Degree in connection to each case. The investigation into these cases remains continuous and further information will be released as it becomes available.
