Mobile Police Chase Ends in Arrest

On November 23, 2011, at approximately 10:48 a.m., Mobile Police responded to a vehicle burglary in progress at the Cracker Barrel on Schillinger Road. Officers were advised two subjects were stealing a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the parking lot.

Upon arriving on scene, officers spotted the suspect's vehicle and activated their lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, however, refused to pull over for officers. After a short chase, the suspect's vehicle crashed on Howell's Ferry Road after running over spike strips which officers deployed to stop the vehicle.

Both the driver and passenger ran from the vehicle. The passenger, 37 year-old Kwasi McMillian was apprehended after a brief foot chase. After being treated at U. S. A. Medical Center for minor injuries sustained in the wreck, McMillian was booked in Metro Jail for Theft of Property Second Degree and Possession of Burglary Tools.

The driver of the vehicle has not yet been apprehended.
