Mobile Police Conduct a Compliance Check for “Spice”

On October 18, 2011, narcotics investigators conducted an investigation regarding the sales of incense or "spice" from service stations located within the city of Mobile. Investigators checked a total of 53 service stations and six were found not to be in compliance. Governor Robert Bentley signed an executive order on October 14, 2011 to take the product off the street.

The following are the results of the operation:

CITGO Station, 2721 Springhill Avenue
The total dollar value of the confiscated product is $1,700.

Mitchell Brothers, 1300 Arlington Street
The total dollar value of the confiscated product is $45.

Shell, 1700 Michigan Avenue
The total dollar value of the confiscated product is $825.

DIP Food Mart, 817 Dauphin Island Parkway.
The total dollar value of the confiscated product is $1,850.

Fulton Grocery, 1288 Dauphin Island Parkway.
The total dollar value of the confiscated product is $2,400.

DIP Food Mart, 3110 Dauphin Island Parkway.
The total dollar value of the confiscated product is $590.

The total dollar value of confiscated product from the above locations is $7,410. Mobile Police will continue to conduct these checks to ensure the product is not being sold.
