Mobile Police Department Investigate Traffic Fatality On Old Shell Road

On Monday, July 28, 2014, at approximately 9:40 a.m. Traffic Safety Officers responded to the area of Old Shell Road in front of Stanky Baseball Field for report of one struck. The victim, 53 year old Janis Bowens, was in the area of Stanky Field blowing debris from the roadway when she was struck by a pickup traveling westbound. Bowens was wearing her safety vest at the time of the crash. She was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was given a breathalyzer test and field sobriety test which he passed.
