Mobile Police Department Narcotics Unit Make Arrest After A Two and a Half Week Long Investigation

On Thursday, May 08, 2014, officers of the Mobile Police Department Narcotics / Vice Unit launched an investigation after receiving information a person in the 700 block of Barlow Road West was growing Hydroponic Marijuana and manufacturing methamphetamine. During this investigation, arrested person, 60 year old Otha Lavon Rowell, was seen entering and exiting a shed located on the property several times a day. Officers also observed Rowell making several hand to hand transactions with people inside vehicles that would frequent the location.

On Thursday, May 27, 2014, Narcotics Officers made contact with Rowell inside the shed. Rowell was in possession of a digital scale, a white powder substance believed to be cocaine, and the materials for a "shake and bake" meth lab. Rowell was arrested and charged with manufacturing controlled substance, possession of controlled substance and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
