Mobile Police Department to Hold Annual Memorial Service

The annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Public Safety Park at the corner of Government and Westwood Streets in Mobile. The purpose of the event is to recognize and remember retired officers who died in 2011 as well as those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

There will be a special moment of silence for Mobile Police Officer Steven Green, who died in the line of duty of February 3, 2012.

The keynote speaker will be Special Agent in Charge of the Mobile FBI Office Lewis "Matt" Chapman. Mobile Police Department Chief Micheal T. Williams, Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran and Special Agent Chapman will read the names of the officers who paid the ultimate price. Honor guards from the Mobile Police Department, Mobile County Sheriff's Office and the Saraland Police Department will be present and a 21-Gun Salute and Taps will also be performed.

The event is sponsored by the Mobile Police Department and Mobile County Sheriff's Office Chaplain's Office. The public is invited to attend. All inquiries should be directed to Dr. Jerry Brown, Mobile Police Chaplain at (251) 208-1930.
