Mobile Police Investigate a Homicide on Government Street

On December 31, 2010 at approximately 3:47 a.m. Mobile Police responded to shots being fired in the area of Government Street near Dauphin Island Parkway. Upon arrival, officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound inside of a vehicle. Mobile Fire Rescue responded and the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminary results of the investigation revealed the deceased man has been identified as 23 year old Ramon Tinson. Detectives have determined that while on Government Street, unknown subjects pulled up to the victim's vehicle and fired multiple shots striking the victim's vehicle and killing Tinson. Tinson's vehicle then left the roadway and struck a light pole. A second man was in the victim's vehicle but he was not injured in the incident.
