Mobile Police Investigate a Homicide on Hillcrest Road

On September 2, 2013 at approximately 12:15 a.m. Mobile Police responded to the 1600 block of Hillcrest Road for a report of an adult male that had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found 28 year old Louis Lamar McMillian with an apparent gunshot wound. Mobile Fire Rescue responded and McMillian was pronounced dead on the scene.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to determine that Candis Tinay Barren, while handling the weapon in a reckless manner, shot and killed McMillian. Candis Barren was arrested and charged with Manslaughter.
