Mobile Police Investigate a Homicide on Oak Drive West

On February 20, 2011 at approximately 2:20 a.m. Mobile Police responded to the 7500 block of Oak Drive West for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon the officers' arrival, they found a male with a gunshot wound. Mobile Fire Department responded to the scene and the male was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminary results of the investigation revealed the deceased male has been identified as 24 year old Aaron Miles Kirkland. Detectives have determined that Aaron Kirkland drove to the residence after an earlier dispute and was attempting to kick in the kitchen door when the resident fired a shot though the door killing Kirkland.
