Mobile Police Investigate a Male Struck by a Vehicle

On February 13, 2011 at 2:24 a.m. Mobile Police responded to a report of a person down on Lartigue Avenue South near Cedar Point Road. Upon arrival, officers found a 38 year old male that had been struck by a vehicle, and the vehicle had left the scene before the arrival of police. The male was transported by Mobile Fire Rescue to the University of South Alabama Medical Center with what are considered to be life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary results of the investigation reveal the male was walking north on Lartigue when he was struck by the vehicle. Parts of the vehicle were left behind and appear to be from a Toyota vehicle. The vehicle should have heavy front-end damage.

Mobile Police are now asking for the help of the public. If anyone can identify the owner of the vehicle or can give information about the incident, please call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211, Crime Stoppers at 208-7000, or text to 274637 and include the keyword CRIME 411.

The investigation will continue and more information will be released as it becomes available.
