January 8, 2013

On January 8, 2013 at 1:32 p.m. Mobile Police responded to the 300 block of Laurel Drive for a report of a robbery and a theft. Officers found two victims that reported that three unknown subjects approached them, while armed with guns, and demanded the keys to their trucks. One victim gave the subjects the keys to a truck, and a second subject entered a separate truck and all three subjects left the scene in the two stolen trucks.

While police were investigating the incident, an officer located one of the stolen trucks traveling north on Telegraph Road in Prichard. The officer attempted to stop the truck and the driver refused to stop. The officer pursued the stolen truck north on Highway 43 into Saraland and the driver eventually lost control crashing into a gas station.

Two subjects from the stolen truck were transported to the hospital for treatment and one of the subjects has died from his injuries.

Robbery Detectives and the Internal Affairs Unit will continue the investigation. If anyone has information about this incident, please call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211.
