Mobile Police Investigate a Traffic Fatality on Cottage Hill Road

On March 26, 2011 at approximately 4:12 a.m. Mobile Police responded to Cottage Hill Road at Natchez Trail for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers found a Ford Explorer had left the roadway and struck a power pole. Mobile Fire Department responded and the driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminary results of the investigation reveal the driver has been identified as 17 year old Deonte Lemarius Johnson. Investigators believe Johnson lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck the pole. Speed is believed to be a factor, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved.
