Mobile Police Investigate a Traffic Fatality on Quimby Drive

On February 25, 2011 at approximately 10:14 p.m. two Mobile Police Officers were investigating an incident in the area of Oxford Road and Sollie Road when they observed a male on a motorcycle driving reckless. The officers traveled to the intersection of Sollie Road and Three Notch Road when they located the male and the motorcycle. The officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the man attempted to elude the officers on Quimby Road. While the officers were in pursuit of the motorcycle, the driver of the motorcycle collided with a Ford F-150 at Quimby and Lenard Drive. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 21 year old Ronald Rotter of Mobile. Speed is considered to be a factor in the crash, but neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be involved.
