Mobile Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting

On Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Mobile Police were dispatched to Family Inn at 900 West I-65 Service Road in reference to a domestic incident. On scene, a female victim reported a male subject issued threats against her and was en route to the location.

Investigation by officers revealed the subject had an active domestic violence warrant. When officers attempted to take the subject in custody for the warrant, the subject attempted to elude the officers and accelerated his vehicle towards one of the officers who was standing in the parking lot. This officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody, treated and released from a local hospital.

This case is being investigated by the Mobile Police detectives and Internal Affairs Units.
