On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at approximately 1:29 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a male subject operating a non-street legal dirt bike on Plover and Partridge Street. While conducting the traffic stop, the officer attempted to detain the subject when he physically resisted the officer, and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the officer discharged his weapon one time. No one was struck by gunfire; however, the officer and subject sustained minor injuries.
Dequarrio Hines, 25, was subsequently arrested for assault, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest.
This is an ongoing investigation.
