Mobile Police Investigate Traffic Fatality

On March 4, 2014, at approximately 10:30 p.m.., Mobile Police responded to a single-vehicle crash with injury on westbound I-10 between the Virginia Street and Duval Street exits. Traffic Homicide investigators discovered a pickup truck was traveling westbound on the interstate when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck a guardrail.

Mobile Fire Rescue responded and the driver, 40 year-old David James Garrett of Mobile was pronounced dead on the scene.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash although lack of seat belt is believed to be a contributing circumstance. Traffic Homicide Investigators will continue their analysis.
