Mobile Police Investigate Traffic Fatality

On January 31, 2015, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Mobile Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10, eastbound between Rangeline Road & Interstate 65. A vehicle, driven by 53 year-old Benjamin Scott Jernigan of Theodore, was traveling eastbound on I-10, left the roadway, continued to travel approximately a quarter of mile off the roadway before making contact with a pole. Jernigan was transported to Spring Hill Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation revealed Jernigan received no major trauma from the crash and the vehicle damage from the pole was minor. A medical emergency may be responsible for the crash.

Mobile Police will continue the investigation.
