Mobile Police Investigate Traffic Fatality

On February 23, 2014, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Mobile Police responded to the I-10 and I-65 interchange for a report of a single vehicle crash. On scene, police discovered a pickup truck was in the interchange from westbound I-10 to northbound I-65 when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a light pole.

The 40 year-old male driver was pronounced dead on the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash. Speed combined with weather conditions are contributory factors. Also, the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Traffic Homicide Investigators will continue their analysis of the crash.
