Mobile Police Investigate Traffic Fatality at Dauphin Island Parkway and Maryvale Street

On Friday July 2, 2010 at 7:15 PM Mobile Police responded to the area of Dauphin Island Parkway at Maryvale Street in reference to a nine year old male that was struck by a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was driven by a fifty-nine year old male. The victim was attempting to run across Dauphin Island Parkway when he was struck by the Chevrolet Suburban. The victim was transported to USA Women's and Children Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. While enroute to USA Women's and Children Hospital, the victim began to have erratic breathing and lost consciousness. Once at the hospital the victim succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol, drugs and speed were not a factor in this case.
