Mobile Police Investigate Traffic Fatality on Interstate 10

Jun 7th, 2015

On June 6, 2015 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Mobile Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate10 between Rangeline and Riviere Du Chien Roads involving one with life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed traffic was slowing for an unrelated traffic crash on eastbound Interstate 10 near Riviere Du Chien Road. Willie McMillian, 51 years old, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala when he struck a 2014 Nissan Sentra, occupied by three people, at a high rate of speed. The impact forced the Sentra into a 2004 GMC Yukon, occupied by two people. McMillian lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and entered a wooded area along the interstate.

A passenger in McMillian's vehicle suffered injuries and was transported to U. S. A. Medical Center.

Dominic Gerard Turner, Sr., a passenger in the Sentra, suffered life-threatening injuries and died on the scene. The driver of the Sentra and her son, the third passenger, were taken to U. S. A. Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

A female passenger of the Yukon was taken to Spring Hill Medical Center and was released before making a statement to police.

Due to circumstances of the investigation, McMillian was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Manslaughter and three counts of Assault Third Degree.

Identity of the deceased victim of the crash will be released pending family notification.
