The Mobile Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting at a residence located at 7200 Lakeview Drive East. The incident happened Thursday, February 4, 2021 shortly before 6 a.m. when SWAT officers arrived to serve two arrest warrants and execute a search warrant on the residence.
The first suspect, 22-year-old Tyhre Webster, was out on bond for shooting into an occupied/unoccupied vehicle. The second suspect, 18-year-old Treyh Webster, was out on bond for robbery first degree. Both had active warrants for intimidating a witness and reckless endangerment, stemming from an incident in which the victim of a robbery was threatened and shot at.
Upon arrival, the SWAT officers announced themselves and made entry into the residence. Officers were immediately engaged with gunfire that was coming from a back bedroom. The officers then heard a female stating she had been shot.
During the gunfire, a SWAT officer returned gunfire striking 18-year-old Treyh Webster. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
The woman, identified as the mother of the suspects, was quickly removed from the residence and provided first aid until medical arrived on the scene. At this time, the mother is listed in stable condition.
A 17-year-old juvenile was also arrested and charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. The juvenile was transported to Strickland Youth Center.
Officers recovered a total of five firearms during the search warrant.
This officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Mobile Police Department Internal Affairs and Homicide Unit. Once the criminal investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.
The involved officer is on administrative leave pending the preliminary investigation.
