Mobile Police Make Arrest in Felony LSA Involving Pedestrians

On Saturday, November 24, 2012, at approximately 6:05 p.m., Mobile Police officers arrived at Government and Catherine Streets where they found one male and one female victim in the roadway. Officers learned the victims had been struck by a vehicle, which was last seen northbound on Catherine Street. Both victims were transported to USA Medical Center where the female, 23 year-old Ashley Marie Avis, later died. The male victim is being treated for his injuries and is expected to recover.

On Sunday, November 25, 2012, 24 year-old Denesha Lavace Christian turned herself in at Metro Jail and was subsequently arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries.
