Apr 9th, 2014

On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at approximately 6:30 a.m., an unknown male subject entered the Shell Station at 3000 Dauphin Street, indicated he had a gun and a bomb, before demanding cash from the register. The cashier complied and the subject exited the business and fled the scene driving north on Sage Avenue.

Later, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a known black male, 43 year-old Harold Dortch entered the Waffle House at 3030 Airport Boulevard and asked for his last paycheck, as he was a former employee. Dortch then demanded the money from the register and advised he had a gun. The cashier complied and Dortch left the scene east on Airport Boulevard.

The investigation revealed Dortch was also responsible for the earlier Shell Station robbery. He was apprehended at French Quarter Apartment without incident.

Dortch was arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery First Degree in relation to these cases.
