Mobile Police Make Arrest on Church Street Homicide

On Monday, June 9, 2014, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Mobile Police responded to the 1100 block of Church Street for a report of one down. Upon arrival, police discovered 19 year-old Tyrone Gable deceased after being impaled by glass shards.

Investigation revealed Gable was visiting a friend at an apartment on the property when 20 year-old Jimmie Lee Taite forcefully and unlawfully entered the residence, which belongs to Taite's former girlfriend. Fearing for his safety, Gable jumped though a window to exit the apartment, breaking the glass and causing his death. After Gable exited the apartment, Taite assaulted his former girlfriend.

Taite was located at the scene and placed in custody. He was arrested and charged with Felony Murder, Burglary Second Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Spice) and Domestic Violence Third Degree.
