Mobile Police Make Arrest on Houston Street Homicide

On April 27, 2014, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Mobile Police responded to the 50 block of Houston Street for a report of one shot. Upon arrival, police discovered a male in his early 20s was shot on the front porch of a residence. The subject was pronounced dead on scene.

The initial investigation revealed the deceased subject was armed with a gun and was attempting to make unlawful entry into the residence. The homeowner armed himself and shot the subject.

The incident was originally reported as a home invasion style burglary however; it was further discovered during the investigation that 45 year-old Joseph Hunt Booth, Jr. knew the deceased, 20 year-old Antonio Crawford and Booth tampered with or supplied evidence on the scene in efforts to mislead investigators. Booth was arrested and charged with Murder in relation to this case.
