Mobile Police Make Arrests on Multiple Robberies

On June 9, 2014, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Mobile Police responded to a robbery at Chevron located at 5454 Ziegler Boulevard. While on scene, a robbery-in-progress was dispatched to Waffle House at 1754 Dauphin Island Parkway. The subjects' descriptions were identical to the suspects who had previously robbed Chevron and who had committed multiple robberies at other Waffle House locations.

Officers located the vehicle used in the robberies traveling on Interstate 65. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, a pursuit ensued. The vehicle came to a stop in the area of West Main and Branch Streets, at which time the subjects fled on foot. Two of the three subjects were detained after a lengthy search of the woods and swamp.

Items indicating the vehicle and suspects were involved in the robberies were collected.

Police arrested 19 year-old Nelson Hayes and charged him with 12 counts of Robbery First Degree. Demetrius Lockett, 18 years old, was charged with three counts of Robbery First Degree.

Chevron 5454 Ziegler Blvd. - Robbery First Degree
Waffle House 1754 Dauphin Island Pkwy - Robbery First Degree (2 counts)
Circle K 6111 Lott Rd (Mobile County Sheriff Office)
