Mobile Police Make Several Narcotics Arrests

On October 27, 2011 at approximately 4:05 p.m., the Mobile Police Department Narcotics/Vice Unit concluded an investigation into drug activity at 2004 Mott Drive resulting in the arrests of Ernest Collins, III and Keon Smith, who were selling drugs from the location. During the arrests, officers seized approximately 30 grams of powder cocaine with a street value of $1,000, approximately six grams of hydroponic marijuana with a street value of $100, $5,431 in U. S. currency, three digital scales used to weigh the illegal drugs, two rifles and three handguns, two of which were stolen.

The following subjects were arrested:
Ernest Collins, III (DOB 05-21-1987)
1. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
2. Trafficking Powder Cocaine

Keon Smith (DOB 09-15-1989)
1. Possession of Marijuana


On October 28, 2011, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Mobile Police Department Narcotics/Vice Unit conducted a search warrant at 306 St. Charles St. in reference to drugs being sold at this location. Search of the residence revealed several grams of crack cocaine, two grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and U. S. currency used to purchase the controlled substance, all of which wwere recovered.

Arrested subjects were as follows:
Alex Stringer, DOB 10-21-1981
Charged with:
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine)
Possession of Marijuana Second Degree

Virgil Dubose, DOB 07-30-1985
Charged with:
Distribution of Crack Cocaine

Cedrick Phillips, DOB 09-11-1971
Charged with:
Loitering for the purpose of drug activity.

Brittany Spraggins, DOB 07-28-1991
Charged with:
Loitering for the purpose of drug activity.


On November 1, 2011 at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Mobile Police Department Narcotics/Vice Unit concluded an investigation into drug activity at 2103 Helen Street resulting in the arrest of Kelvin Brown, who was selling drugs from the residence. During the search, officers seized approximately 58 grams of cocaine with a street value of $2,500.

The following subject was arrested:
Kelvin Brown (DOB 02-12-78)
1. Distribution of Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
2. Trafficking Cocaine
3. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia


On November 2, 2011 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Mobile Police Department Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop of a white Lincoln Town Car at Springhill and Levert Avenues. The driver, Jarvis Earl, drove off after making contact with police and began tossing plastic bags containing crack cocaine and cocaine out the vehicle. A short pursuit ensued with the listed vehicle coming to a stop at the 2200 block Ashland Place Avenue where Earl was placed in custody.

1. Trafficking Cocaine
2. Resisting Arrest
3. Eluding Police
4. Reckless Endangerment

Robert Harriston (DOB 05-07-81)
1. Seatbelt Violation (warrant)
