Mobile Police Release Findings of Administrative Hearings

A non-adversarial trial board was held on August 28, 2009, to consider the circumstances surrounding the decision to arrest Antonio Love on July 24, 2009. That trial board found that Lieutenant Kevin Rodgers was in violation of Mobile Police Department General Orders when he directed that Mr. Love be incarcerated. The trial board recommended and Mayor Sam Jones subsequently directed that Lieutenant Kevin Rodgers be suspended without pay for 80 consecutive working hours, with forty of those hours held in abeyance upon successful completion of training to deal with deaf and blind individuals. Lieutenant Rodgers has ten days to appeal his discipline with the Mobile County Personnel Board.
A non-adversarial trial board was held on August 28, 2009, to consider the circumstances surrounding the use of force by Officer Patrick Luckett during the arrest of David Pate. That trial board found that Officer Luckett was in violation of Mobile Police Department General Orders in his use of force. The trial board recommended and Mayor Sam Jones subsequently directed that Officer Luckett be suspended without pay for 160 consecutive working hours, participate in use of force training, and be re-assigned to the Field Operations Division. Officer Luckett has ten days to appeal his discipline with the Mobile County Personnel Board.
