Mobile Police Remind You to Lock Your Car Doors

Feb 24th, 2011

The Mobile Police Department wants to remind Mobile area residents to lock your vehicle each and every time you exit and leave, whether at home, work, at Mardi Gras or in any parking lot.

Most vehicle thefts and removal of articles from a vehicle are crimes of opportunity. Subjects either check door handles or notice that vehicle doors are unlocked and use that chance to take items from the car or steal the car itself. By locking your doors each and every time you leave your car or truck, you greatly reduced the likelihood that your vehicle or your personal possessions will be stolen. Also, store valuable items out of plain view in your vehicle so criminals are not tempted to break in.

Should you have knowledge of a vehicle theft or need to report a theft, please call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211, Crime Stoppers at 208-7000 or text information to CRIMES (274637) and include the keyword CRIME 411.
