Mobile Police Seek Donations for Victims of Recent Storms

May 2nd, 2011

The Chaplain's Office of the Mobile Police Department is seeking donations for those families recently affected by the deadly tornadoes, with an emphasis on the children of these families. This effort is being coordinated in conjunction with the Chaplain's Office of the Mobile County Sheriff's Department. Donations of any variety will be accepted; however, those items specifically for children are especially needed.

The Chaplain's Office is seeking new and used clothing, shoes and toys as well as child-specific items such as diapers, wipes, baby food, formula, bottles, bibs, wash cloths and towels. These donations will be collected through Tuesday, May 10, 2011.

These items may be dropped off at Mobile Police Headquarters, any of the Mobile Police Department precincts or any Mobile County Sheriff's sub stations. In Semmes and northwest Mobile, Ladybugs Children's Boutique at 8740 Moffett Road is a donation site. In Midtown, donation may be taken to PPI Photography at 2350 Halls Mill Road. Churches who would like to collect items can call the Chaplain's Office for pick up.

The Police Chaplains are in a unique position to understand the needs of the affected areas, as they are in contact with the Chaplains of those areas.

For additional information or to schedule a pick up, please call Dr. Jerry Brown, Mobile Police Chaplain at (251) 208-1930 or Rev. Ron Pierce, Mobile County Sheriff's Office Chaplain at (251) 574-7729.
