Mobile Police Support Toys for Tots’ 2013 Campaign
Dec 30th, 2013
Each year, the Mobile Police Department supports the Toys for Tots annual campaign by collecting and distributing toys to children in the Mobile area. Local agencies with similar missions are also supported by applying for toys for local children who receive their services.
This year, volunteers from the Department were able to provide toys for 634 local children from 222 families, including 105 children from area agencies who applied for toys on their behalf. These toys provided a Christmas gift for area children who would otherwise not receive one.
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
This year, Mobile Police volunteers came from the Explorer's Program/Parent Advisors, South Lafayette Street Community Action Group, Mobile Police Community Resource Officers and Office Assistants and the Public Library Employees and Spouses.
