Mobile Police to Host 30th Annual National Night Out, Crime Prevention 5K

On Tuesday, August 6, 2013, Mobile Police will once again host National Night Out, a FREE family fun event starting at 5:00 p.m. at the fountain area by JC Penny in Bel Air Mall. The celebration is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness as well as generate support for and recruit participation in local anti-crime programs.

Entertainment during the event will include:
- 620 Jazz Lab — a 30-member jazz ensemble
- Paula Broadwater, Broadway star and jazz musician
- Pensacola School of Magic
- Mobile Kappa League Steppers
- Shaolin Institute featuring Grand Master Shawn Liu
- Mobile Police Explorers Post #3405 Drill Team and more!

An outdoor Public Safety Area will be in the west parking lot and will include various law enforcement specialized units including Mobile Police K9s and Tactical Units, Mobile County Sheriff's Department, Mobile Fire Rescue, Alabama State Troopers, FBI, Coast Guard, and others.

There will also be an indoor Home Security Demonstration Area including vendors with windows, doors, locks and lighting products.

Over 50 vendors will be present at the event and door prizes will be awarded during the evening. Masters of Ceremony will be WKRG's Mel Showers and Rose Ann Haven. This free event will conclude at 9:00 p.m.

The Mobile Police Department will also be hosting the Crime Prevention 5K Run/Walk through downtown Mobile starting at 6:30 p.m.
