Mobile Police Youth Academy Graduation

Fourteen Mobile youth now have a new perspective regarding police work. During the past month, they have participated in the Mobile Police Department's Citizens Youth Academy and will graduate with a certificate of completion Saturday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mobile Police Department Training Academy, 1251 Virginia St.
The students received detailed instruction on patrol operations, radar usage, narcotics and vice operations, juvenile law, crime scene investigation, and hostage negotiation. The class also took weekend field trips to The Mobile Metro Jail, the Strickland Youth Center, and the Metro Mobile Firearms Training Facility.
Anyone interested in applying for future academy should call the Training Academy at 208-2730 or download an application at www.cityofmobile.org/mobilepd. Academies will be held once annually. Applications are accepted at any time and classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Background checks will be required and no applicant with a felony conviction will be admitted to the program.
