MEDIA ADVISORY

WHAT:
Supporting Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Mobile Police Department SWAT team will dress up as superheroes and rappel down the side of the building at USA Children's & Women's Hospital. During the event called "Operation Superhero," the SWAT officers will present certificates for being cancer free to several children.

WHO:
Mobile Police Department SWAT Team

WHEN:
Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.

WHERE:
Mobile Police Department SWAT team will rappel down the side of building surrounding the courtyard at USA Children's & Women's Hospital, 1700 Center St.

WHY:
Cancer is often a life-threatening illness that remains the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 15, according to the American Childhood Cancer Organization.

Captain Roy Hodge of the Mobile Police Department Special Operations Section is directing "Operation Superhero" and believes an event of this magnitude will honor the real superheroes — the children. Superhero costumes will be provided by Bienville Costumes.
