MPD Tactical Unit Executed Gambling Search Warrants in Operation "Little Vegas"

The Mobile Police Department Tactical Unit executed search warrants on the bars in possession and operation of illegal gaming machines in the City and County of Mobile. Called Operation "Little Vegas," the search warrant operation was completed today, November 30, 2015.

Five businesses and four residences were issued the search warrants. After weeks of information gathering through surveillance, confidential informants and the use of undercover operations, the MPD Tactical Unit was able to identify the bar owners and operators who allow video gaming devices such as video slot machines to be used inside their respective establishments. These devices are illegal and strictly in violation of Alabama State Law.

The following is a list of subjects now in police custody and a breakdown of the charges and seizures.

Michael's Lounge, 1443 Navco Road
Curtis Watts, 76 years of age - Charged with Possession of Gambling Device
- Recovered four video gaming machines

The Touch of Blues, 2070 St. Stephens Road
Herbert Anderson, 59 years of age - Charged with Possession of Gambling Device
- Recovered three video gaming machines

Brandi¡¦s Lounge, 1610 St. Stephens Road
Theodore Houze, 46 years of age - Charged with Possession of Gambling Device
- Recovered two video gaming machines

Phat Tuesday, 1608 St. Stephens Road
Richard Johnson, 59 years of age - Charged with Possession of Gambling Device
- Recovered three gaming machines

The search warrants were executed with the assistance from MPD Narcotics, MCSENT, and MPD First, Third and Fourth Precincts.
