Animal control officer fired after animal cruelty incident

An animal control officer has been terminated after a complaint of animal cruelty.  On November 10, 2019, the Mobile Police Department was notified by the Alabama State Port Authority of potential animal cruelty involving a City of Mobile Animal Shelter animal control officer. An administrative investigation was immediately conducted.

At the conclusion of the administrative investigation, Christopher Dressel was determined responsible for the said offense. On November 26, 2019, Dressel was terminated from the City of Mobile Animal Shelter. He had been an animal control officer since June 23, 2018.

There is also a criminal investigation ongoing surrounding this animal cruelty incident. Once it has concluded, an arrest could be made. Charges will be released at that time.

UPDATE: A warrant was issued for Christoper Dressel's arrest. On December 5, 2019, Dressel turned himself in. He has been charged with cruelty to animals.
