ARREST MADE IN COLD CASE HOMICIDE

On April 7, 2009, Mobile Police arrested Nathaniel Blanks (11/30/1977, 31) for a homicide that occurred on October 14, 1996. The original incident involved the victim identified as Jawanzee Marquis Harris (6/18/1979) being shot in the 400 block of Morgan Street. The victim died as a result of his injuries.

Homicide investigators responded to the scene to conduct the original investigation. The original investigation revealed the identity of Eric Leonard Johnson (6/2/1968, 40) as the suspect responsible for the death of Harris. Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged with Murder. The case against Johnson was later dismissed.

On today's date at approximately 11:00 A.M. suspect Nathaniel Blanks turned himself in to authorities in reference to this homicide. Blanks was subsequently charged with Murder and transported to metro jail. Investigators are currently pursuing other leads in reference this incident.
